How To Go Beyond Self-Care to Achieve Self-Mastery

With 2020 (and that impending NEW YEAR, NEW YOU avalanche on social media) just around the corner, I have a little exercise for you (painless, I promise) that might just make those new year's resolutions stick.

First off, I think it's much more powerful to say HELLO 2020, BYE BYE OLD ME!

My thinking behind this is that if I don’t ditch the old version of myself first, the grand new vision I have for my life won’t have a fighting chance at becoming my reality.

All those old patterns will resurface as soon as the holiday high is over and those January blues set in.

Can you get behind that?

 

Next Steps

Of course there’s work involved here. Healing, forgiveness, letting go.

It is my firm belief that anyone, anywhere, at any time, can decide to change. You can choose to let go of behaviours, habits and relationships that aren’t working and create something new from a place of wisdom. 

It may not be easy, in fact I can tell you from experience that it won’t be.

But it can be done and I can also tell you that it is the most important work you will ever do.

Yes, establishing habits around self-care is critical, but that’s akin to just cracking the surface.

You need to dive deeper into self-discipline (because consistency is queen), and even deeper until self-mastery is achieved.

Now it's time for that exercise I mentioned!

Whichever of the popular quotes (below) resonates with you, sit down, grab that lovely 2020 journal you just purchased and write out 10 qualities that you need to cultivate to BE THAT PERSON.

"Be The Person Your Dog Thinks You Are."

"Be The Kind of Woman/Man That Makes Others Want to Up Their Game."

 

Part 2

Now pick the top five off that list… The five qualities that excite you the most.

For each one answer these three questions:

  • What is the vision I hold of my best self?
  • What habits/behaviours do I need to cut out to step into my higher self?
  • What are the actions I need to take to bust through the blocks to my highest self?
  • What are the daily habits that will help me be my highest self?

Does the path to ditching the “old you” seem a bit clearer now?
