When Was the Last Time You Played?

Do you remember when you were a kid?

Life was pretty exciting. Everything was an adventure.

Then you grew up and everything got so serious.

Adulting isn't for the faint of heart.

Who has time to play when there are bills to pay, kids to take care of, and career highs to achieve?

Am I right?

Here's the truth of the matter though. The more serious you get about life, the harder life gets. The heavy energy generated from all that seriousness causes a slow down in life force energy... making you feel even more tired and run down.

I've been enjoying the last few days in sunny California, reconnecting with friends and overdosing on some much-needed vitamin D. Mostly I've been getting back to having some good old fashioned FUN! Hanging out on the beach, listening to the ocean waves and dancing to my favourite tunes.

Letting my hair down and chilling out has resulted in some pretty magical things.

I've met some amazing people the last few days who feel like lifelong friends. I've had some business opportunities land in my lap. But most importantly, I feel really relaxed.

Most of us make the mistake of thinking that if we work harder - pushing ourselves to the limit and burning the candle at both ends - we can make things happen.

This is only misguiding our powerful energy.

We have to step back and take a beat and accept that the real magic happens when we allow ourselves to relax, soak up some sun, and add a little fun into life.

Try it and I bet your calmer energy will attract all kinds of goodness into your life. Opportunities, great people and many unexpected coincidences will cross your path!

Here's a great 2-part exercise you can practice daily for 30 days.

One of the best ways to bring some lighter energy to your life is to commit to a daily gratitude practice. Treat yourself to a gratitude journal. Every morning write down 3 things that you're grateful for. As the day unfolds allow yourself to remember what you're grateful for. It doesn't have to be anything huge- your friends, your kids, pets, home, the way the sun comes through the window, your morning cup of coffee or anything else that comes into your mind.

Give yourself permission to feel grateful. That's when the magic happens.

At the end of the day take out your journal. Take 3 deep breaths and go over your day in your mind. What happened that you really liked? Did you have a great conversation with someone? Did you meet anyone interesting? Write down 3 things that happened in your day that really made you happy.

If you do a gratitude practice for 30 days straight you'll definitely notice a change in your mood. Life will definitely become more fun and you'll find a sense of play!
